our associate attorney, Bruna Barbosa, was a panelist at the Brazil America Summit 2018. The event was held in Orlando, Florida, and gathered a high-skilled team of professionals in the legal field from both Brazil and the US to discuss legal aspects between the two countries including immigration, EB-5, tax laws, investing in the US, among other subjects.
Bruna spoke about the major tax reform approved by Congress on December 22, 2017, known as the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, and how it could affect Brazilians, both residents and non-residents of the US, that already do business in the country or are planning on investing here.
The Summit had extensive participation of a Brazilian audience, most of them now residing in the US, who are looking not only for renowned professionals in the legal field, but also to learn from real life experiences that were discussed by the panelists.

The first edition of the Miami Summit, an event organized and sponsored by the company GoNext, took place during March 05th and 06th 2018, in Aventura, Florida, where a business-oriented Brazilian audience had the opportunity to discuss how to start a new business in the US, learning from real life stories. Bruna Barbosa, Barbosa Legal’s associate attorney, was one of the event’s guest speakers and presented on the necessary legal steps to start a business in the US, also addressing tax concerns related to the subject.
The event also explained the EB-5 Visa Program, and it was an excellent occasion for Brazilian investors to hear about real-life experiences from well-renowned professionals that showcased how to migrate to the US and the legal paths and considerations to start a business in the country.
