About

Julio Barbosa is the founder and partner of Barbosa Legal and he is licensed to practice law in the United States and in Brazil and is a member of The Florida Bar and the Brazilian Bar Association (“OAB”).  Julio began practicing law over 35 years ago in Brazil and has spent most of his career focused on helping foreign clients, who want to do business in the United States, from business entities to individuals.

Through the years Julio has published several articles on a variety of topics, both in English and Portuguese, as well as three books in Portuguese (two as co-author). He also wrote “How to Export to the United States,” a guide through the complexities of doing business with American companies, “The Painful (and Taxing) Realities of Doing Business in Brazil,” and “Arbitration Law in Brazil: An Inevitable Reality.”

Julio has extensive experience in International Taxation and International Transactions.  He has been assisting clients in a variety of cross-border transactions in Latin America and in the United States, from the distribution of products, and the creation of subsidiaries, to large investments in real estate properties.

In addition to the comprehensive legal services to foreign companies and business people who wish to do business in the United States, Julio is also able to assist Americans who wish to do business in Latin America through his close and long-standing relationships with some of the best lawyers and consultants in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Ecuador, and Colombia. These relationships allow him to provide complete legal services to clients throughout those countries, with comparative legal and regulatory analyses relevant to the matter at hand.

He has been invited as a featured speaker in more than a dozen countries throughout the Americas to discuss international trade, international taxation, arbitration, establishing entities and doing business in the United States.and he is licensed to practice law in the United States and Brazil. Over 30 years ago, Julio began practicing law in Brazil and he has spent most of his career focused on advising international individuals and entities navigate the intricacies of doing business in the United States.

Brian D. Stringer is an associate attorney at Barbosa Legal. Brian’s practice focuses on real estate, corporate law, and commercial transactions. Brian advises clients in the analysis, acquisition, disposition, financing, development, and leasing of commercial and residential real estate, as well as in the negotiation and structuring of corporate transactions.

Brian has extensive experience providing general counsel in a wide range of domestic and international transactional matters, such as mergers and acquisitions, entity structuring, asset acquisition and disposition, compliance, financing, and management.

Brian is particularly adept at structuring transactions to bring a client’s unique goals to fruition. Whether the client is a business entity seeking advice on a merger and acquisition or an individual purchasing real estate, Brian carefully guides our clients to fully understand their particular needs and assists them in accomplishing their objectives.

Brian has litigated business and real estate matters for domestic and international clients in Florida. He uses his experience to identify aspects of a particular transaction that are most prone to contention and constructs agreements that are specifically designed to avoid litigation.

Ted Brooks is an Of Counsel at Barbosa Legal. Ted brings vast knowledge of U.S. and non-U.S. tax laws to the team. His experience includes working at both private and public companies and law firms developing strategic tax planning initiatives for businesses and investors, international corporate treasury centers, intellectual property development structures, hedge funds and asset management vehicles, joint ventures, structured financing and intricate M&A transactions.

Ted has been at the helm of many successful companies   and is a frequent speaker on U.S., international and cross-border taxation. He is also a member of the Advisory Boards for several high-growth technology companies and is a board member of Icing Smiles, a non-profit organization that provides custom cakes to critically ill children and their families to celebrate their special day.

Ellina Berdichevsky is an associate attorney at Barbosa Legal, whose practice involves advising individuals and businesses in a variety of areas, including organizational structuring, real estate, income, estate, and gift tax planning, asset protection, and trusts. Andrés’ Hernández practice includes corporate law, international tax, and estate planning for domestic and foreign high net worth individual and, assisting with fully compliant structures, both domestically and abroad, and providing succession planning solutions considering tax challenges of global wealth.

Andrés has experience advising high net worth individuals and their families on cross-border wealth, investments, and estate planning concerns with particular focus on issues arising from civil law and common law application. Carolina Inacio is a results-oriented Brazilian attorney with several years of experience in various areas of taxation practice including tax litigation, corporate law and compliance. She began her career in Brazil advising companies and performing due diligence and analysis to identify and mitigate tax liability. She has served as manager of a tax practice, led civil tax trials, conducted research on complicated tax issues, and rendered expert testimony on tax matters. 

Carolina decided to take advantage of her unique skill set and expand her practice into international taxation and earned a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in International Taxation from the prestigious Levin College of Law at the University of Florida.

Natascha Vicentini is the senior paralegal at Barbosa Legal. Natascha has over 16 years of experience in the areas of real estate, corporate law, commercial transactions, and taxation. Prior to joining Barbosa Legal, she worked in Boston, Massachusetts for a major hospital group and a large, well-established law firm. 

Natascha is particularly skilled in the area of real estate transactions and title insurance. She regularly manages all aspects of commercial and residential real estate transactions, domestic and offshore entity formation and governance, preparation of legal documents, and compliance. Natascha is fluent in English and Portuguese and speaks conversational Spanish.
