Javier Chipi is an associate attorney at Barbosa Legal counseling clients in a wide range of tax issues, including, representing individuals, businesses, trusts and estates in both inbound and outbound matters. Javier has extensive experience in international restructuring, federal and multi-state taxes, and resolving disputes with the Internal Revenue Service.
He regularly provides advice regarding foreign trusts with U.S. beneficiaries, pre-immigration tax and estate planning, planning for large gifts and inheritances being received by U.S. persons from foreign persons or foreign estates, foreign investment in U.S. real estate and business interests, asset protection, and tax compliance and reporting, such as FBAR and voluntary disclosure programs. Javier also has experience in the design, formation, planning, and operation of domestic and foreign corporations, partnerships, and trusts.
Javier is also a Certified Public Accountant. Before joining Barbosa Legal Javier worked at a large international public accounting firm advising multi-national businesses and high net worth individuals on domestic and international tax considerations and in local law firms within the South Florida area. He earned his Juris Doctor from Nova Southeastern University and his Master of Laws in Taxation and Masters of Accounting degrees from the University of Miami.
